Attitude…..the key to happiness & success

Do you realize that in life, you have control over very little?

Stuff happens and in the end, it is really how you react to that “stuff” that is the true measure of the sort of person you are or wish to become.
In truth, no one’s life is an easy journey down a long straight, smooth, road. Instead, you find pot holes, bumps, curves, hills, valleys, and other obstacles along the way. It is really how you deal with those “surprises” that actually determine your happiness and success.

So what does that mean?

It means that every day when you get up you have a choice: you can choose to have a good day, or you can choose to have a bad day. It is totally your choice. Now, if you choose to have a bad day, no matter what happens, be they good or bad things, you will have a bad day because you already decided it would be bad.
On the other hand, if you choose to have a good day, even if you face difficulties, you will find a way to make them work out and become positives because you already decided your day was going to be a good one.

What determines those scenarios?

The one thing that you actually do have control over: your attitude, and those actions you employ, to deal with whatever befalls you.
If you have committed to being a positive person who always finds the glass is half full, then you are likely a good problem solver who views mistakes and challenges as opportunities to learn; and move forward once you have explored your options and decided how to resolve whatever you are facing. With this outlook, you likely have lots of friends and admirers who enjoy your company because you are fun and positive about your life, and ultimately make good things happen. If you are this sort of person you are also likely to be generally happy, productive, efficient, creative, and healthy.

Negative people view the world as a hard place with everyone and everything stacked against them. A place where nothing ever goes their way, others are always “out to get them” and every time they turn around they are facing another disaster. Now some people do have bad luck, however, it is how they approach those issues that will determine the outcomes and if they always visualize poor results, those self-fulfilling prophesies are bound to come true.

Considering both of those types of people, which one do you like to be around and which one would you like to be?
It is not actually so hard to adopt a positive attitude, if you commit to that mindset. It just takes focus, practice, and an effort to maintain forward looking strategies in whatever you do.  It means resolving problems as they occur, taking responsibility for your actions, managing your perception of situations, and if you feel that the issue cannot be solved in a satisfactory manner, choosing to “save yourself” and move on.

I find that people who are ‘interested’ in doing something, rarely do it. However, people who are committed to accomplishing something will find a way no matter what!  That is why they achieve their goals, get tasks accomplished that move them toward their objectives, and therefore experience success in their work, in their relationships, and generally in all aspects of their life.

You are the captain of your fate! And, the slogan, “if it is to be, it is up to me”, ought to be your credo!
No one else is going to take care of you and your problems, so you need to employ the right attitude toward resolving any difficulties you encounter…..take an action to solve it, consider how you contributed to the problem, what options you have now,  how you can avoid experiencing it again, and then move on.

People who continually revisit past mistakes without “fixing them”, constantly complain about how tough their life is, and never seem to move forward, are not much fun to be around. So make sure you are not one of those sorts of individuals.

Remember…… is too short not to find ways to enjoy it as much as possible. So make sure you face yours with a positive, joyful, productive outlook and you will enjoy great happiness, a lot of fun, and much success, in all aspects of your life.
